Meet Designer Cheryl McCain and Sample A Freebie! May 2, 2011

Filed under: Designer,Freebie,Product Previews — Julie Mead @ 4:18 pm

Scrapbooking has been a part of my life since 1996 when I began paper scrapping with the ladies at our Church.  After 4 years,  I found digital scrapping and knew this was for me.  I began designing soon after, and have sold at several sites .

My heart lies in leaving a legacy for my children and grandchildren.  I’ve embarked on a journey of leaving an album for each of them called “My Life Before I Was Your Mother”.  It’s a work in progress and I know they’ll appreciate it one day.  I only wish I’d had something like this from my parents and grandparents to look back on.  I want my children and future generations to know where they came from and who they are.

E-scape Artists Team Reveal: Vintage Spring Kits by Tania Ruiz May 1, 2011

Filed under: Digital Scrapbooks — Julie Mead @ 6:59 pm

Cheryl McCain has some beautiful new spring kits in the boutique – Vintage Spring Mini Kit and Vintage Spring Petite Kit.  This week the team used these two kits both separately and together to show off what they look like in action and how well they coordinate with each other.

Aquaholic by Katie

Katie used both kits and a fun play on words in her title to record her son’s love for water.  She placed her journaling on the notepad element.

Vintage Spring by Astrid

Astride used the Mini Kit to make this soft spring-inspired page, creating a beautiful cluster from the elements.

Nature’s Bounty by Carissa

Carissa used both kits to create a page that appears as a window into the fun scene her picture has captured.

Glamour and Glitz by Tania

I chose the Mini Kit to showcase this picture of my teenage niece.  In this case I used the notepad element to showcase my picture, and I erased part of the paperclip so that it would seem the notepad was clipped to the ribbon.

Time with Grandpa by Carissa

Carissa used both kits in this sweet layout showing the bond between a grandpa and his grandchildren.  She used some of the frames to make her larger photos stand out, while complimenting them with smaller unframed photos.

Iridessa by Tania

I used the Petite Kit to showcase one of the many topiary pictures I took at Epcot’s Flower & Garden Festival last year.  I cut a strip of the brick patterned paper in the kit to hold my title and shrunk the lace border to “attach” it to my page.

Seek Happiness by Tania

I loved that these kits can be used both with current and vintage pictures.  In this case I took an old family photo and paired it with a Bible passage for a quick heritage page.

April Showers

Filed under: Creative Team,E-scape Artists Team Reveals — Julie Mead @ 7:26 pm

Our team’s theme this week is “April Showers”. As you will see everyone had their own interpretation.

Our newest team member, Lorraine, created this gorgeous layout showing how much fun playing in the puddles can be.

Barb showcases an amazing photo of raindrops on leaves and a beautiful poem from the great American poet Langston Hughes.

Karla gives a wonderful and whimsical look at all the fun rain brings when you’re a child.

I love Lori’s take on April Showers with her layout of her sister’s baby shower! What a fun layout.

Vicki did an awesome job with her photo and extraction. Simple but exquisite!

Thanks so my husband’s photo skills and my camera, I have this wonderful photo of one of nature’s scary but beautiful displays.

Spring Outdoors by Elaine Dennison April 11, 2011

Filed under: Digital Scrapbooks — Julie Mead @ 7:07 pm

Spring brings more temperate weather and everyone just naturally wants to spend more time outdoors.

Roxi used DIY Dude by Sus Designs, Photo Bunches Set2 and Paper Blenders 2 by Coppercurls Designs to showcase their building a tree house at their new home.  Roxi’s journaling reads:  “n 1998 we decided to build a new house, which would mean leaving the tree house at our present place. But Dad promised a new one, complete with air-conditioning so he would be comfortable spending the nights sleeping out there with Kevin. We rented a ‘cherry picker’ and had a blast building it. Even Kevin helped saw and hammer parts together. Our best kitty ever, Boots, kept us company. Of course he couldn’t miss out on the activities.”  I certainly admire their carpentry skills and the new tree house is awesome.

Danna used Let It Shine by Sus Designs to journal about “The Birth of a Surprise Landscape.”  As Danna explains “We bought our new house in the middle of winter so when Spring arrived the landscaping was a surprise as the plants and flowers began to bloom.”   What a gorgeous surprise  and a lovely way to welcome spring in bountiful coat of many colors that mother nature paints for us outside beckoning us to enjoy the delights of spring.

Sara states that “One of my favourite parts of spring is the appearance of certain flowers. In the UK, it was crocuses, but home in Bermuda, it’s the tiny blue Bermudiana that announces the arrival of spring!”  She used Happiness and Happiness Mini Kit by Ruth Davis for her delightfully springy  page called Welcome Spring.  I love the bright colors and  joyful yet playful nature of Sara’s layout.

Elaine used April PU Grab bag by Sus Designs for her page about her granddaughter Piper taking a spring walk near her home.  The return of warm weather is just perfect to be outside and enjoying the weather.

For Erica, spring is a time of celebration and she created some adorable hybrid candy covers using Pocketful of Sunshine May 2010 Guild Encore Kit and Little SomeBunnies to Love by Julie Mead.  What sweet treats they are!

Candy Covers by Erica

Erica lives in southern Florida so her spring is much warmer than most of the United States and she is already thinking about summer in April.  The weather looks fabulous to me and I expect that the warmth of Florida is appealing to a lot of others, too!    Erica’s page called Summer Moment focuses on the Golden Memories spent with family and uses Bluebell Mini Kit and Bluebell Border Clusters by Cheryl McCain Designs.

Next up is a bright and sunny page using Summer So Fine Collab Kit and Keep You In Stitches with Templates by Julie Mead.  Erica, quite appropriately, calls this page Summer Fun.  I know that I’m looking forward to warmer days focused around the pool although it’s just a little chillier here and I won’t be swimming until the pool gets much warmer.

Summer Fun by Erica

Once again, warmer weather and longer days means more time to spend outdoors doing projects, working in the garden, and just relaxing.   Don’t forget to grab your camera as you spring out the door!

Spring is Here by Elaine Dennison April 4, 2011

Filed under: Digital Scrapbooks — Julie Mead @ 7:02 pm

April is the promise of spring — in the northern climates the snow is abating and crocuses and other early bloomers are peeking out from the snow.  In the lower Latitudes, the days are warmer and mother nature has painted everything in bright spring foliage.  For the other side of the world, summer is winding down and fall is in the air.  No matter where you live,  April is a month of change.  This week our team is celebrating spring.

Mary is still experiencing a bit of snow and is showing us the brave efforts her plants are making in turning a bleak landscape into the colors of spring.  For her delightful page, Mary used It’s Fall Y’all Grungy Cardstock by Kay Elfin, Texture Brushes by Coppercurls Designs, and Dash of Snow and Paper Snow Kit by Julie Mead.  Click on the image to see how she blended and brushed to make her creation a one-of-a-kind design.

Katie is also thinking of spring and flowers in her page, Spring Blooms, which  revolves around a spring visit featuring lilacs and family.  I love the beautiful way she combines five photos and tucks different elements in front and behind her photos adding additional depth and interest.  Katie used Grunge Swirl Brushes by Coppercurls Designs and Strawberries and Cream Elements and Strawberries and Cream Papers by Ruth Davis.

Mary adroitly used Baker’s Dozen Multiphoto 2 by Kay Elfin, then blended papers from Kay Elfin’s Yellow Roses Paper Pack with Coppercurls Designs’  Paper Blenders 2, and iced it with her cleverly designed title.

Spring has Sprung by Mary

Carissa features lovely flowers and uses a tree to as the letter S to spell out Spring in her creative page.  Her journaling is awesome and I highly recommend your visiting the gallery to read her tribute to Spring. Carissa combined A Gentle Earth Elements and Papers by Kay Elfin and Hillside Morning by Guild Encore Designs.

And for Lynn, spring means the beginning of baseball season.  Opening Day exudes spring and the excitement and enthusiasm as everyone enjoys the beautiful spring weather in the park.  I really like the panoramic shot and fun elements.  Billy’s Baseball by Kay Elfin was the perfect choice for Lynn’s baseball photos.

Opening Day by Lynn

Best Day Ever by Kay Elfin just bubbles over with color and AnikA used is brilliantly for her pages entitled Happiness and Spring is in the Air.  Both fun pages express the happiness and joy that are spring.

As you can see from our lovely layouts, spring is a time of joy, renewal, and the return to color.  Thanks for dropping by and don’t forget to go outside and enjoy the beauty that surrounds you!

FREE: Home File Folders from Erica Nunez by Julie Mead

Filed under: Freebie — Julie Mead @ 12:05 pm

So many fun things to do with these adorable Home File Folders by Erica Nunez.

Create a stack of blank cards to give as a small gift to a new neighbor, a co-worker, or as a thank you.  Of course, you will want to make a stack of these for yourself as recipe cards, or add them to your layouts.  They would even make a great start to a card.  Don’t forget Mother’s Day is coming up!

(special thanks to Erica for sharing these cards with us.)

Like the home file cards?  I personally just love the kit Erica used to create the cards.

It’s such a great kit with wonderful warm colors and adorable elements.

I asked Sus Designs for a sale and she graciously offered it for 25% off for one week, April 3 – 9, 2011.  I know you are going to love this kit as much as I do.  It’s really so versatile.

Coordinating Alpha is also on sale for 25% off this week.
